A cock-eyed optimist…I am not. But I was in the library yesterday and I came across this book made up of an interesting collection of poetry. I appreciate a good rhyme so I read a few. And before each chapter in the book the author gave a little inspirational blurb.

It was before one of the chapters that the author wrote something that went like this….”optimism is like a muscle…the more you use it the stronger it gets.”

Hmm…words to ponder.

So I thought about our current political times that are no doubt weighing on the minds of many… a forced socialized healthcare, trillion plus national debt, an economic recession imposed by flagrant inflation, rising unemployment, out of control foreign policy, ludicrous and offensive bailouts, obtrusive attacks on the privacy of Americans under the guise of security, corrupt and noxious politicians, and another “democracy” hellbent on suicide. I could continue but needless to say the laundry list is about enough to send the most cheerful of optimists running for the Rockies…where the pessimists have already made camp.

However, there is a happy disconnect, I feel, between the grim state of reality and the doom and gloom of the unknown. It’s in that place, where the die hard optimists, who have bowls of good common sense every morning for breakfast, like to hang out.

I have friends there. I love visiting and am seriously looking into some prime real estate.

Every visit leaves me with a more positive outlook. Not unrealistic. Just a bit more positive. That the good guy will win someday…even if I’m not around. That wrongs will eventually be righted. And that the hardships, criticisms, persecutions and obstacles we endure and overcome with patience, persistence, and a little pluck will not all be in vain. And I feel encouraged. So much so, that I am willing to hurl myself back into the quagmire of politics time and again. That optimism is the fuel I need to fight the slimy politicians, mouth pieces, puppets, and tools that are at work destroying our bill of precious rights in front of our frustrated faces.

*Sigh*

So whether it’s a place you visit, a new muscle to flex, an attitude, or a glass…give optimism a little try. Don’t let the gravity of an uncertain future crush the hope that once forged a free nation.

I know that for some the glass is half empty…but that’s when I say… another round on me dear patriots!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! The best in 2010 for you and your families!

I’m sure it’s been over a year since I have sent an email like this to everyone. Some of you are probably sitting here reading this and wondering…who is this person? how did this person get my email address? (you’re on the list btw….) and that’s if you even bothered to open this in the first place…

Let curiosity get the better of you…

Freedom brought us all together as we rallied behind a great statesman, Ron Paul. And he encouraged us to get informed and get involved. We did. And we must stay that course.

I’m writing tonight to let you know about some events that are coming up that you may want to participate in.

North Dakota residents, in two weeks there will be a meeting at the Carl Ben Eielson middle school at 6:00 p.m. There, they will hold endorsing and nominating conventions. Elected officials and 2010 candidates will be in attendance. All districts will nominate delegates to the NDGOP state convention. And odd numbered legislative districts 11, 13, 21, 27, 41 and 45, will endorse new candidates for state senate and house. Any takers?

If you’re serious…so am I!

Again…the details:

Cass County Republicans District Conventions
Carl Ben Eielson Middle School
1601 13th Avenue S, Fargo
Tuesday, February 9th 6pm

Also, the NDGOP state convention will be held in Grand Forks this year. March 19th-21st. Check the link below for details. For those interested in being a delegate this year, get signed up and it wouldn’t hurt to contact your district chair and let them know you are interested.

http://www.ndgop.org/convention.aspx

If you are keeping up with any kind of news you know that we got change..and lots of it. But change is happening on more than the federal levels. And despite what we’ve seen so far, change can be good. Some states are going through some significant transitionary periods right now. North Dakota included. The tide of the ND Republican party may be doing a little house cleaning. Or maybe they are just rearranging furniture…I don’t know…but I guess the best way to find out is to pay attention and stay involved. Couldn’t hurt, right?!

So on February 9th, I’m going to check out what 2010 has in store for ND. And I hope to see some familiar, friendly faces there…yours.

Thanks all!

John Hoeven’s mustache! Now for those of you that have been living under a rock Hoeven announced his bid for US senate on 01/12/10 and this article appeared on 01/13/10

So once again I find myself in a losing battle against myself, sound odd? Well it should!

Today, while at work, I glimpsed down to the break table to see a partially exposed front page of the Forum. I said to myself, “self, don’t do it, you will only regret it.” Of course “self” lost and I picked it up, however I do not regret the actions for I am now encouraged to put pen to paper. My curiosity was sparked by all the small pictures, but when I saw the full page I was disgusted. The small pictures where of most of the United States senators and the article was about John Hoeven’s mustache! Now for those of you that have been living under a rock Hoeven announced his bid for US senate on 01/12/10 and this article appeared on 01/13/10

I could not stomach to read the whole article, only a paragraph or so. The body of the article was not important here, am I sounding odd again? Well that depends on how you see things, do you see these publications in 2 dimensional or 3 dimensional? We can all read what it says and have an opinion, that is only natural, but is there a hidden message? I mean a message that the only the subconscious picks up on? Well if science is correct, and I have every reason to believe that it is, my subconscious converted this article into 3-D.

Here is what I see; The Hoeven machine, only 1 day into the election, has “double clutched” into “maximum overdrive”, that is, the article gives the impression that John Hoeven has already won the senate seat, its just a matter of, should he keep or lose the stache to fit in. Imagine someone picking that newspaper up and saying “well that race is over” and then turn the page as if nothing happened, sound odd now? We have all done it; it just gets locked away for a later time. So let’s talk about that later time before it approaches, and try to nip this in the bud.

When election day comes and its time to go stand in line at the poles the mind is going to think of a thousand things it could be doing instead of standing in line, that’s when that subconscious is going to blurt out “Hoeven already won, remember, the forum said so”, or “Why bother, Hoeven is going to win anyway” Okay so maybe we don’t hear it quite like this, but we all talk differently to ourselves, so use your imagination. I often catch myself doing just this, sometimes too late, sometimes not, none the less I doubt I am alone here.

The Big problem here is not the result of the election but what it does to the system, it DESTROYS it! Elections are the result of the majority, but exactly which majority? If voter apathy, thanks to this article, is present, then it is not the voter majority. The Hoeven majority will be present because they know the program, HELL, they are all programmed! Democracy failed? Maybe, maybe not, if the majority has a chance to rule well then the “mob” has a chance to rule as well.

I am not writhing this because I can see in the future, but because I have read the past. I certainly don’t have the solution, suggestions maybe, but they are obvious. I am not here to voice a personal opinion of John Hoeven because I believe it is the citizens’ responsibility to make their own opinions. I will say this; regardless of your side, get involved, and get out and vote, “WE THE PEOPLE” can take back this country and if we all act now, we can take it back peacefully.

This is an important bill. We need to get our state reps to understand why their support of this bill is so important. At last check, Pomeroy has yet to co-sponsor the bill. It is seems like a no-brainer to me. If I was in a tight financial situation I would contact my banker and check the balances of my accounts, etc. This is essentially what HR 1207 is trying to do. To check the accounts, to make sure we KNOW where we are at and stop assuming. I am trying to understand why Pomeroy hasn’t supported HR 1207 yet. If any of you have an idea, please comment and share your thoughts. Maybe he just doesn’t know about the bill? If that is the case, we need to let him know. Below is all the information you will need to contact Pomeroy. Visit his office, write some emails, send some info. It can’t hurt, it can only help.

Let’s see if we can get Pomeroy to sign on. Tweet this, share this, spread it far and wide!

There’s been a great deal of finger wagging and tongue clucking in Washington about the bonuses paid by AIG after it dragged itself down through what President Obama himself called “recklessness and greed”. Was this not as obvious to Secretary Geithner as it was to the rest of us when he wrote the first checks to AIG? Or did they clearly understand they were rewarding recklessness and greed?

The peril for our country exists not because Washington will, ignorantly or corruptly, devour our children’s futures to reward recklessness and greed; this is not unexpected behavior from ambitious crisis-exploiters. The fundamental problem exists as President James Garfield accurately noted, “Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption.”

Time to withdraw my support from the banking system?
It is said that in a free market people vote with their money. The result is some businesses fail and some succeed according to how many votes they receive. I agree, and would add that it is a much more powerful way of voting than punching out a chad. Is it time for us to individually cast our vote on the question of our monetary system and the recent bailouts?

In September 08 there was a groundswell of public interest as the US government contemplated what came to be the 700 billion dollar bank bailout TARP program. The congress was inundated with phone calls that ran better than 90% against its passage. Soothing promises and apocalyptic consequences were communicated to the public in an effort to win support. The public refused its support and the TARP was enacted. The bankers did not feel obliged to keep the promises and to add insult to injury they won’t tell us where our funds went. Its obvious neither congress nor the bankers are much concerned about what the public has to say.

Talk must be followed by action. A much different outcome may have resulted if those people who had called their congressmen explained their opposition to the bailout, and then added that if congress passed the bailout they would permanently withdraw their bank deposits, perhaps adding that while the measure was under consideration they would bleed their accounts. That would have been a genuine popular revolt that could not have been ignored.

One of the basic ideas of the Campaign for Liberty is the corruption and unconstitutional nature of our banking system. Yet while we revile it with our words we support it where it counts, with our deposits. The dissonance is glaring; we say we want the monetary system changed but we still want the convenience it gives us. We complain about government intrusion into our financial privacy then voluntarily give government the keys by using a system that tracks our transactions. Can we declare we are part of a revolution, yet continue to support the funding source of the current systems evil? Obviously our deeds speak louder than our words and we can safely be ignored.

The banking system is in a weakened state. The TARP program is being used to bolster bank reserves to make it appear banks are solvent. The FDIC now insures up to $250,000 per account in an effort to assure Americans their money is safe and thus dissuade them from withdrawing their funds. The banking system now needs the publics support more than ever. It seems to me my withdrawal of support from the banking system will have more impact now than ever and voting in such a way has a much better chance at abolishing the Federal Reserve System than Ron Paul introducing another bill to do the same.

We are now faced with another 700 – 1000 billion dollar bailout. Like the last one, we are told it must be passed immediately or else dire consequences will result. We are also told it will inevitably pass and that it probably won’t be the last one. So be it. Perhaps it is time to make that phone call to my congressmen explaining my opposition to this bill, this time communicating my willingness to revolt with a statement that I will be withdrawing my funds from the banking system. Sometimes such actions can become contagious. If enough people act in such a manner, we will truly have their attention.
