Light ‘em up
As I’m sure you are all well aware of, the House passed the “stimulus” package and it is now in the hands of the Senate. If you haven’t done so already, please call your Senators. I have Dorgan and Conrad’s number below. NO EXCUSES!!! This will only take a minute of your time. They need to know that we are NOT happy about this. This is not a stimulus package, it is a spending package!
Key points…
1. Even though Senator’s Dorgan and Conrad endorsed Obama, North Dakotan’s DID NOT. Our state voted red. They do NOT have any mandate from the citizens of ND to go along with Obama’s programs. The last time I checked they are to respresent OUR interests, NOT the interests of their party or their own self-serving interests
2. Again, the only thing that this package will “stimulate” is government spending. This package will create 32 NEW government programs at the cost of $136 Billion. We need to CUT spending, not create more government bureaucracy. Remember “tax rebates, stimulus checks, welfare reimbursement” whatever you want to call this, in the absense of cutting government spending is fiscally and morally irresponsible!
3. This package is just dripping with fat ranging from $150 Million for honey bee insurance to $400 Million for global warming research. Check this out… http://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/stimulus_pork_spending/2009/01/29/176503.html?s=al&promo_code=7922-1

I think North Dakota NOT electing Obama is a great point to remind them of when calling in! I don’t hold much hope for Conrad voting against it but Dorgan did vote against the last one…

North Dakota has a voice. What will it say? Have you called yet?
